Melange

Last night Cara and I ate dinner at Melange, a wine bar and restaurant on Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor. I had never eaten here before and wanted to give it a try because I passed it nearly every night over the summer coming home from work at BD’s Mongolian Barbeque. The chef worked for a while in Thailand and the menu offered both french style cuisine, asian inspired dishes, and a combination of the two cuisines. We had a garlic tuna maki roll as an appetizer, Cara had the flank steak salad and I ate the seared perch served with stewed shallots and red peppers, whipped potatoes and braised baby bok choy. For dessert Cara had the cheesecake and I ate the flourless chocolate torte. Overall the food was excellent and we drank St. Jean chardonnay from Sonoma, California with the meal. The stewed shallots and red peppers were very good but were a little to greasy and overpowering over the perch, which has a light texture and taste.
